Middle Maths NZ

About The Island

For many Kiwi teachers, composite classes are the norm.  Cobbling together a cognitively engaging, curriculum linked, maths teaching unit for children in multiple year groups can be dauntingly difficult.  The talks, tasks, games, guided instruction notes and planning examples linked to this website have been curated to meet this challenge for teachers of New Zealand students in Years 5 to 8 (Ages 9-13).

With links to the Tāhūrangi search engine (every search has been done for you!) and hundreds of other curated resources aligned to Levels 3 and 4 of the New Zealand Mathematics and Statistics Curriculum (Phases 2-3 of the Refreshed NZ Curriculum), these should provide a “one stop shop” for all of your planning needs.

You will find no cookies, advertising or fees on this site. Every link is to a free evidence based teaching resource site, and every attached document is free of charge for you to copy or preview.
